Professor in Media Studies
Sciences Po invites applications for a position of full Professor in media studies specialised in digital methods. The position will be connected with the cutting-edge Sciences Po médialab: http://www.medialab.sciences-po.fr/
PROFILE
We are seeking outstanding candidates with excellent academic records, peer-reviewed publications and a demonstrated ability to build international collaborations, network building and fund raising capacity. The candidate will have a good grasp of the new digital techniques which are deeply modifying the handling of data for the social sciences.
The applicant should have a PhD in hand in a relevant field.
Ability to teach in French and English.
RESEARCH AND TEACHING
The successful applicant will have to participate in the development of the research done in the médialab in digital humanities and digital methods. The teaching commitment will be university wide but with a pronounced focus on the "controversy mapping" teaching procedure for which the school has received a long term development grant (FORCCAST). The candidate should contribute to the development of a doctoral program in media studies which should accommodate the needs of the two schools of journalism and communication which exist so far only at the master level as well as those of the SPEAP experimental program in arts and politics.

- A statement of purpose of not more than 2 pages summarizing relevant skills and motivations.

Applications will be examined by a selection committee which will shortlist a small number of candidates. The shortlisted candidates will be asked to give two job talks, one on their own research, and one on the ways in which they envision their role as academic entrepreneur to develop the media studies program at Sciences Po in collaboration with the médialab and the rest of the institution.
