The Centre for the Interdisciplinary Study of Film and the Moving Image
presents a Symposium on:

The aims and status of arts and culture criticism are under
attack, whether judging by the number of critics losing their jobs at
newspapers, magazines and other âEUR~old mediaâEUR^(TM), or by the proliferation of
academic monographs bemoaning / The Crisis of Criticism/ and mourning
/The Death of the Critic/. This symposium offers the views from critics
and academics from various fields, offering historical case studies and
inquiring into the role of critics today.
