*Two Lectureships in Media and Communications*

*London School of Economics and Political Science - Department of Media and Communications *

*Salary: £40,634 - £47,047 pa. incl.*

Applications are invited from outstanding candidates in the field of media and communications. Two positions are available, and successful candidates will join an established and successful department, on grade point average ranked third in the UK in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise.

You should demonstrate a commitment to critically assessing claims about ways to theorise and empirically research mediated relationships between media and communications technologies and the social world.

You will have an established track record of research at a level of international excellence as well as a completed, or nearly completed, PhD in a relevant subject. You will maintain an active programme of research and will contribute to the general work of the department, including the teaching of a range of courses.

One position is open to applicants specialising in any area within the field of media and communications. We particularly welcome applications from those with expertise that contributes to understanding the social, political, economic and/or cultural dimensions of social and technological change in today's complex mediated environment.

The second position involves a significant contribution to our /MSc in Media, Communications and Development./ We particularly welcome applications from those specialising in critical approaches to media, communication and development in low income countries, the role of media and communications in human rights and/or and struggles over media, development and governance in the global south.
