The RTA School of Media in the Faculty of Communication&  Design at
Ryerson University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track
position, at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August 2012,
subject to final budgetary approval.

Established in 1953 as the School of Radio&  Television Arts (RTA),
the RTA School of Media is Canada’s preeminent school of broadcasting
and media production. Its faculty is a diverse mix of highly regarded
creative practitioners, innovators, and researchers; all committed to
the education of tomorrow’s industry leaders, thinkers, practitioners
and storytellers. RTA offers academically rigorous and programs that
attract and nurture innovative, creative, and entrepreneurial
students.

The successful candidate has a significant body of work in one or more
of the following areas of expertise: transmedia production (ideally as
a multiplatform producer), interactive cinema or video, directing,
webcasting, and installation art which may be demonstrated by a
significant history of research, creative work or publishing.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate as well as graduate
courses in the Masters in Media Production and Communication and
Culture programs with an overall focus on transmedia innovation and
production. The successful candidate will also take an active role in
developing curriculum, expanding research and forging relationships
with private and public sectors for the School.

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of three years of practical,
hands-on experience in transmedia/mutiplatform production and a
working knowledge of related technologies and industry practices, as
well as a minimum of three years teaching experience at the
college/university level. As the School continues to expand its
externally funded research activities and develop a collaborative
research agenda, a PhD is preferred. However, consideration will also
be given to candidates possessing a combination of a terminal degree
in a related field with strong research, publication, creative work
and/or professional experience. Salary will be competitive and
commensurate with experience.
