doctoral summer school on media management

at the IPMZ - University of Zurich, Switzerland


The emma doctoral summer school is a biannual event, aimed at doctoral
students providing a unique opportunity to learn from some of the best
educators in the field of media management and receive individual
feedback on their dissertation proposals and research. The 2012 school
will be hosted by the Media Economics and Managament Division of the
Institute of Mass Communication and Media Research at the University of
Zurich<cid:part2.02090905.01090002@ipmz.uzh.ch>, Switzerland, 03-08
September.

Lectures are designed to explore theories and approaches to researching
issues and topics in media management and to provide a better basis of
understanding of managerial and business concepts and perspectives. A
considerable amount of time will though be dedicated to students
presenting their dissertation research for discussion and advice from
the faculty and other participants.

• José María Álvarez Monzoncillo, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Spain
• Lucy Küng, Jönköping International Business School, Sweden
• Bozena Mierzejewska, Editor of the International Journal on Media
Management
• John Oliver, University of Bournemouth, UK
• Robert G. Picard, University of Oxford, UK
• Armin Rott, Hamburg Media School, Germany
• Gabriele Siegert, University of Zurich, Switzerland

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

• A synopsis of 5-10 pages in English describing your doctoral research
project. Please provide information about the method you plan to use, so
that we can adjust the program accordingly.
• A cover letter briefly outlining what you would like to get out of the
summer school.
• A letter of recommendation written by your supervisor.

Please send your application for the summer school to Bjørn von Rimscha

Candidates will be selected based on the quality of their research
proposals.
