The Leuphana University of Lüneburg (Germany) offers one
postdoctoral position within the transdisciplinary
research project „Segmented Media Offerings“. The project
is part of the large-scale EU-project „Innovation
Incubator Lüneburg”. Under the direction of Prof. Dr.
Claus Pias and Prof. Dr. Timon Beyes, and in conjunction
with the “Institute of the Culture and Aesthetics of
Digital Media (ICAM)“, the project is dedicated to
exploring the effects of participatory publics and new
forms of moving image circulation/distribution on civil
society, with an emphasis on the cultural and educational
sectors. Besides obtaining and making public knowledge on
emerging patterns of interaction and organization within
network cultures, the project “Segmented Media Offerings”
seeks to generate joint ventures and spin-offs dedicated
to the development of new forms of moving image
circulation and distribution.

We are looking to fill as soon as possible, for a term of
24 month:

1 Postdoctoral researcher in the field of
Media/Communication Theory and Cultural Studies

This is a full-time position with compensation according
to the German standard university tariff (100% TV-L 13).

Responsibilities:

Independent research and publication activities dedicated
to the research focus
Coaching and support of PhD researchers and projects
Participation in the design and organization of research
seminars and international colloquia
There are no further administrative requirements and no
teaching obligation


Requirements:

Completed PhD in Media/Communication Theory, Philosophy or
Cultural Studies
Demonstrable knowledge of empirical research methods
and/or the current state of theory development as concerns
the field of net culture, media activism and media art
Evidence of publication and/or project delivery through
independent, original research
Strong experience in curating/organizing international
events, conventions and/or exhibitions in the fields of
net culture, media activism and media art
Interdisciplinary understanding of the problems and
methods in different fields of social-, cultural- and
media-theoretical knowledge
