[ecrea] Call for Abstracts! 6th Intern. Conference on Media in CEE (Apr.26-27, 2013)

We would like to remind all of you and ask for your assistance in 
helping to distribute the news about the 6th International Conference on 
Media in Central and Eastern Europe (CEECOM 2013) entitled "Liquidity, 
Fragmentation, and Individualization in the Mediascape" that will take 
place on April 26-27, 2013, in Kaunas, Lithuania. This year it will be 
organised by the Department of Public Communications at Vytautas Magnus 
University in Kaunas together with the Central and East-European Network 
at ECREA and the Baltic Association for Media Research (BAMR).

The focus of CEECOM 2013 is on Central and Eastern Europe, its social 
and cultural transformations, communication cultures and changes, its 
media, and its journalisms. The main theme of the conference puts a 
strong emphasis on changing roles, missions and functions of 
contemporary media. It applies a very broad (historical, comparative, 
case-based analysis, media use analysis, and others) perspective to the 
theme and also raises questions about effects and severe social and 
cultural consequences of media change. By aiming to tackle all these 
questions the theme seeks to address political and social histories of 
CEE media development and change. Briefly, it moves around the main idea 
that CEE countries and their media and communications could be studied 
as laboratories of modern life where all contemporary controversies are 
identified and tested.

Call for papers and panels will be open until 17 February, 2013. All 
abstracts should be written in English and have to be submitted online 
filling-in the forms on the conference website: 
http://www.ceecom2013kaunas.lt. All abstracts will be reviewed by the 
scientific committee members or other reviewers appointed by the 
committee. Authors of the accepted papers and panels will be informed 
till March 17, 2013. Registration to the conference will be opened on 
March 18, 2013. Final CEECOM2013 Kaunas Conference program will be 
announced on the website on April 20, 2013.
