The successful candidate will carry out research in the field of 
organizational communication within the Center of Research of 
Communication (RECOM). RECOM is part of the Institute of Language and 
Communication (IL&C) that favors synergies among scientists in 
communication and linguistic sciences. Specifically, the successful 
candidate will carry out research in the field of Communication and Culture.

The successful candidate will teach bachelor courses (e.g., Introduction 
to communication theory) and master courses related to communication and 
culture (day classes as well as evening classes) primarily on the site 
of Mons, and also on the site of Louvain-La-Neuve.

The successful candidate will have teaching assignments in the 
above-mentioned field within the various degree programmes organised by 
the Faculty.



Special qualifications
- The successful candidate will show a strong expertise in the field of 
information and communication sciences.
- An expertise in the field of Culture (cultural politics, cultural 
studies, cultural mediation,…) and particularly in the analysis of the 
relationship between cultural events and communication sciences will be 
appreciated.
- The successful candidate will contribute actively to the deployment of 
information and communication programs at UCL Mons (recruitment, 
tutoring programs, and teaching program evaluation).

General conditions

Tasks :  The applicant will :

    * be responsible for teaching courses at the three study levels 
(i.e. undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate), as well as in 
programmes of continuing education;
    * supervise the final diploma work (i.e. master thesis) of 
undergraduate students, as well as PhD theses;
    * be involved in (and/or supervise, promote) research programmes;
    * contribute to the international visibility of the University 
through teaching and research excellence;
    * contribute to activities of the University with a societal impact 
in the fields of the economy, socio-cultural changes or cooperation with 
developing countries.

Qualifications :  The applicant will have :

    * a PhD degree in degree in Communication Sciences or equivalent 
qualifications;
    * a significant scientific record proved by international publications;
    * either studied abroad for an extensive period or had substantial 
experience outside UCL;
    * experience in and aptitude for teaching at university level;
    * the capacity to work within a team of teachers and to integrate 
research findings in their courses;
    * creativity and must be open to pedagogic innovation and 
interdisciplinarity;
    * the capacities required to undertake academic research at a high 
level and to advise, or lead, a research team;
    * a good knowledge of both spoken and written French and English.  
If this is not the case, the applicant should accept to learn French 
and/or English in order to be able to teach in French and English within 
2 years.  Fluency in other languages is an additional advantage.


L’Université catholique de Louvain recherche un(e) spécialiste à temps 
plein (100%) en Information et communication (communication et culture)
Le titulaire du poste développera des recherches (en lien avec les 
matières principalement enseignées et en interaction avec les collègues) 
au sein du Centre de recherches en communication (RECOM) inscrit 
actuellement dans l’Institut Langage et Communication (IL&C). Plus 
particulièrement, le titulaire du poste montrera une expertise probante 
dans le domaine de la communication et de la culture.

Il assurera des enseignements de base (Bachelier) et avancés (Master) en 
Information et Communication dans le domaine de la communication du 
secteur culturel, en horaire de jour et en horaire décalé, sur le site 
de Mons (principalement), ainsi que sur le site de Louvain-la-Neuve.

Le titulaire du poste assurera des enseignements dans ces domaines au 
sein des divers cycles d’études gérés par la Faculté.

Qualifications/aptitudes particulières :
Le candidat retenu devra faire preuve d’une compétence probante dans le 
champ des Sciences de l’Information et de la Communication (SIC) ; une 
expertise dans le domaine de la culture (politiques culturelles, 
cultural studies, médiation culturelle…) et dans l’analyse de la 
relation entre événement culturel et communication sera appréciée.
Le candidat retenu contribuera de manière active au déploiement 
(recrutement, promotion de la réussite et évaluation des programmes…) de 
la filière information et communication au sein de l’UCL, et plus 
particulièrement à l’UCL-Mons.

la faculté, ainsi que dans des programmes de formation continue.
    * Assurer la direction de mémoires de fin d’études et superviser 
des thèses de doctorat.

    * Assurer, par des activités de recherche et d’enseignement, la 
visibilité internationale de l’université.
    * Contribuer aux services à la société, notamment dans les domaines 
économique, socio-culturel ou de la coopération au développement.

Qualifications

    * Etre titulaire d’un diplôme de doctorat en sciences de 
l’information et de la communication (ou qualifications équivalentes).
    * Faire état d’une expérience scientifique reconnue par des 
publications de niveau international.
    * Faire état d’un séjour d’étude prolongé à l’étranger ou d’une 
expérience significative acquise hors de l’UCL.
    * Faire état d’une expérience et d’aptitudes en matière 
d’enseignement universitaire.
    * Etre capable de travailler en équipe d’enseignants et d’intégrer 
des résultats de recherches dans ses enseignements.
    * Etre créatif et ouvert à l’innovation pédagogique et à 
l’interdisciplinarité.
    * Avoir les qualifications pour mener des recherches scientifiques 
de haut niveau et animer, voire diriger, une équipe de chercheurs.
    * Posséder la maîtrise des langues française et anglaise, parlées 
et écrites, ou s’engager à les acquérir dans les deux années qui suivent 
la prise de fonction, dans le but d'être capable d'enseigner dans ces 
langues; la connaissance d’autres langues constitue un atout supplémentaire.
