The 2012 volume of /Northern Lights/ focuses on the renewed interest in 
film and media production, including issues of creativity, convergence 
and collaboration. Concurrent with a heightened awareness of the complex 
production processes in the creative industries, a new scholarly 
interest in choices and constraints as well as in institutional contexts 
has emerged. At the same time, technological changes in the modes of 
production and distribution have caused a blurring of boundaries between 
media consumers and producers.
