[ecrea] Call for Submissions: Signo y Pensamiento. A Latin American Journal of Communication

Signo y Pensamiento is an academic and scientific journal issued every six months by the School of Communications and Language of Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. It has been published since 1982 and it is one of the premier Communication Studies journals in Latin America.

Signo y Pensamiento publishes articles in Spanish, Portuguese and English based on final research reports, theoretical analyses, influential scholar interviews and book reviews concerning topics related to Communications, Media, Information and Languages. It aims to be an interdisciplinary debate forum for academics and researchers interested in an analytic and transdisciplinary approach to communication topics.

The journal is available in the following databases: EBSCO, SciELO, Latindex, Redalyc, Dialnet, ARCCA, DARE, Publindex, Hapi, FIRC.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

The current call for submissions is for our Number 61 (July - December 2012)

Signo y Pensamiento invites all the academic community to submit contributions on the fields of communication, the media, information sciences, languages and language pedagogies. More specifically, the topics may include:

a.	Theoretical and methodological trends in the field of communication and their multidisciplinary relationships: the mass media as cultural industries, their narratives and formats, the relationships between media-related narratives and the cultural environment; political communication and its articulations with communications policies, the media and citizenship agendas of modern societies; significance processes and communication practices derived from the reception, consumption and use of cultural products from the media, technologies and aesthetics, as well as other texts and types of symbolic significance.

b.	The conceptual, logical and physical models for the organization, storage, flow, dissemination and recovery of information and knowledge. The development and architectural processes of scientific knowledge and knowledge networks, as well as their integration with telecommunication systems and the hybridization of the systems for the organization of knowledge along with information systems. The environments of the organizations, their culture and the tasks related to knowledge and information management from the approach of dynamizing agents and countable assets.

c.	 The foundation of language as a discipline and its relationship with other knowledge domains. The analysis of different types of expression, the multiplicity of languages from the media and the diversity of types of social interaction. The analysis of language and discourse problems, applied linguistics, language acquisition and pedagogy, as well as the analysis and formulation of linguistic policies.

d.	Social problems such as exclusion, the exercise of rights, the digital gap and method innovation including processes, products, uses and appropriations in relation to communication, language and information that increase social and cultural development.

e.	 Key and basic technologies and multimedia convergences from communication, language and information that may allow researchers, teachers and students to develop, transfer or appropriate emerging and incipient technologies.

The manuscripts shall be prepared pursuant to the Sixth Edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA).

A cover letter must be included with the submission of the article in which all the authors authorize its publication at Signo y Pensamiento. In addition, the letter should specify whether the article has been submitted to any other journal before.
