CRITICAL STUDIES IN TELEVISION
‘In Debate’ Call for Papers
CST invites contributions for the ‘In Debate’ section of Critical
Studies in Television.

Potential contributors can write to managing editor, Janet McCabe
((j.mccabe /at/ bbk.ac.uk)) to express preliminary interest.

REMEMBERING 9/11: TERROR, TRAUMA AND TELEVISION TEN YEARS ON.
As the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist atrocities is marked
this September, CST seeks to debate how 9/11 is remembered on television
a decade on. New academic titles appear, documentaries re-remember
events, news programmes debate the tragedy, and television
series/serials dialogue with what happened that day.

We are seeking short essays (1500-2000 words) that engage with any
aspect of the current television coverage/representation of remembering
9/11. The brief is wide open. Questions could include (but are not
limited to) asking how is television mediating our remembering of 9/11,
what forms are being used (and why), what are we choosing to remember
(and forget), what are the iconic images, and how does this remembering
affect questions of national, cultural and global identities?

Papers should be sent to Janet McCabe ((j.mccabe /at/ bbk.ac.uk)) by Monday 12
December 2011. Please see the Critical Studies in Television submission
guidelines (http://cstonline.tv/article-submission-guidelines) for
information on how to format the paper. Potential contributors are
encouraged to contact us with any queries regarding the call.
