Mon Sep 05 19:12:51 GMT 2011
We are delighted to announce the publication of the inaugural special
edition of the journal, /Free Associations: Psychoanalysis and Culture,
Media, Groups, Politics /(ISSN: 2047-0622).
This special edition arises from the Media and the Inner World research
network and contains articles on the theme of 'Therapy Culture/Culture
as Therapy'. The full table of contents can be found below, together
with a link to the journal itself.
As many of you will know, Free Associations was published in hard copy
and online for many years by Prof. Robert Maxwell Young. In its new
format, /FA/ is published as a fully refereed, peer-reviewed online
journal at www.freeassociations.org.uk
<http://www.freeassociations.org.uk>. In its new format, /Free
Associations/ aims to provide space for the exploration of
psychoanalysis and its relation to culture and the media, broadly
defined. It embraces all psychoanalytic approaches ranging from the
clinical to theoretical and scholarly applications. We welcome
contributions from a range of academic disciplines including, for
example, cultural studies, film studies, media studies, literature,
drama, art, history, studies of identity, critical theory, anthropology,
feminism, philosophy, psychosocial studies and social sciences as well
as all subjects that include a psychoanalytic (or psychodynamic)
dimension. All submissions -- whether original articles, reviews of
books, cultural events/phenomena or media, letters to the editor,
conference reports etc -- should address matters related to
psychoanalysis and its application in the clinical, media and/or
cultural spheres. To submit an article or review, please enrol as a user
of the journal and use the online system to upload your work.
/Free Associations/ is published three times a year.
This special edition comprises of a selection of articles arising from
the Arts and Humanities Research Council 'Media and the Inner World'
research network. It is edited by Candida Yates and Caroline Bainbridge,
who are Directors of the network. The articles in this edition draw on
the theme of the network's opening symposium and include contributions
from psychotherapists, academics and media professionals. For further
information about the network, see www.miwnet.org <http://www.miwnet.org>.
