CALL FOR PAPERS
The Fifth Annual PhD Student Conference in Journalism and Communication Studies (APSCJC)
December 17-18 2011, Communication University of China (CUC), Beijing, China

With success in the past four annual conferences, the Institute of Communication Studies and the Graduate School at Communication University of China are pleased to announce the fifth annual PhD student Conference in Journalism and Communication Studies to be held December 17-18, 2011 in Beijing China. We invite PhD students who work in the (or relevant) fields of journalism, media, cultural and communication studies, both in mainland China and from overseas, to submit their papers and workshop proposals regarding issues in media and communication theory and practice.

Time and Place:
December 17-18, 2011, Communication University of China, Beijing, China

Topics:
Papers and workshop proposals are suggested to be relevant to the following issues:
„h Theory and history of journalism and Communication
„h Online communication and social transformation
„h Public supervision and social governance
„h Media cultural studies
„h Soft power, international communication and national image
„h Global communication and international relations
„h Other media and communication relevant issues

Eligible participants and paper format guidelines
„h All the potential participants SHOULD be PhD students with a research project in progress at the time of the conference, who are from either the fields of journalism, media and communication studies, or other disciplines with relevant concerns in media and communication related issues. „h All the submitted papers and proposals should be in either Chinese (see the format requirements for Chinese papers) or English, and follow the APA academic writing format, with double space. Please send your papers and proposals to (cucphdforum /at/ gmail.com) before the following indicated key dates.

Key dates:
„h October 1, deadline of first draft paper submission
„h November 1, results of the first round review
„h November 20, deadline of final version paper submission
„h December 1, formal invitations

Other Attentions:
„h Please indicate if you would like to have your papers published in the Chinese academic online database CNKI. Otherwise your paper will be published online after the conference. Normally this does not affect further publication in printed journals as the organization does not claim any copyrights of the papers. „h The organizers will grant conference participants from outside of Beijing will a limited amount of financial subsidy for travel and accommodation. „h Collection of excellent papers will be complied and published after the conference on a voluntary basis.
