We have a series of new teaching posts in Media and Communication

The Media and Communication Department has a long-sustained reputation for innovation and a rising profile. It has established a highly distinctive ‘Open Media’ approach towards its teaching, research and professional practice and offers exciting undergraduate and postgraduate courses covering media and communications, journalism, media production and photography.  These New posts underpin this developing ethos and the enhancement of teaching and learning activities in the Department of Media and Communication.

These are opportunities for proactive individuals who can demonstrate an ability to make a distinctive contribution to our research, practice and teaching. Applicants should be able to demonstrate the ability to embrace the key debates framing the transformation and location of contemporary media.

Lecturer in Media Production
Salary Range:  	£29,100-£36,864

The successful candidate will undertake teaching and curriculum development in the field of Media Production within the Department of Media&  Communication; in particular focused on innovative uses of lens-based and screen Media; new modes of production, distribution and consumption.

The post-holder must have a masters degree in a relevant discipline. They will be actively engaged in professional practice, applied research and income generation in the broad area of Media Production. Specifically, exploring new/emerging modes of Media production  and related media practice scholarship; specialisms might include: New Documentary, Gender and sexualities, Short film, Content for Mobile media, New/experimental  narratives and forms.

The successful candidate will undertake teaching and curriculum development in the field of journalism in broadcast media within its theoretical context

This post-holder must have a masters degree in a relevant discipline and be actively engaged in professional practice, applied research and income generation in the areas of: broadcast journalism, multi-media Journalism and new forms of the production, distribution and consumption of journalistic content  - e.g. online newspapers and TV news channels, news-blogging and citizen/community journalism, new/emerging scholarship in the new economies of journalistic practice.

This post-holder must have a masters degree in a relevant discipline and will be actively engaged in professional practice, applied research and income generation in the areas of: new forms of the production, distribution and consumption of journalistic content, delivered across a variety of media platforms; Journalism produced in parallel text, audio and video forms for traditional media, websites, social media and mobile media; the new economies of journalistic practice.

The successful candidates will work with supervision and guidance of senior academic members of staff, to support the students in the Department of Media&  Communication, especially in terms of project and practical work.

They will deliver Media support services to designated course teams, and individual staff engaged in teaching, research and practice.

In particular they will undertake, facilitation, technical support practical demonstration, and resource management to support content generation and practice in the Department of Media&  Communication, with specific focus on new media.
