[ecrea] Workshops and Conference on Social Network Analysis in Zurich (13/14 September, 2011)

*Workshops and conference sessions on the analysis of Communication 
Networks*

On September 13/14 several workshops on Social Network Analysis (SNA) 
are held at the University & ETH Zurich.

On September 13 an introductory workshop will provide basic knowledge on 
SNA to newbies. In the afternoon applications of SNA in selected 
scientific fields will be discussed. This includes political 
science (Uwe Serdült, U of Zurich & Christian Hirschi, ETH Zurich), 
*mass communication research* (Thomas N. Friemel, U of Zurich), and 
sociology (Filip Agneessens, U of Groningen). In parallel the 5th 
international workshop on historical networkanalysis will be held in the 
afternoon (in German).

On September 14 software workshops will be provided on PNet (Philippa 
Pattison, Garry Robins & Peng Wang, U of Melbourne), SIENA (Johan 
Koskinen, U of Manchester & Thomas Grund, ETH Zurich) und Visone (Ulrik 
Brandes & Jürgen Lerner, U of Konstanz).


The subsequent international conference on Applications of Social 
Networkanalysis (ASNA 2011 - September 15-16, 2011) hosts keynotes by 
Philippa Pattison (U of Melbourne) and Alessandro Lomi (U of Lugano) as 
well as 60 conference
presentations.
