What makes good journalism?

A conference organised by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications
at the University of Westminster in association with The British Journalism Review

In a world of Twitter, WikiLeaks and mobile phone hacking the role of the journalist is constantly evolving.

In it’s third annual summer conference, The University of Westminster’s Department of Journalism is looking at what makes good journalism, how to teach it and how to achieve it.

Is it in the professional culture of the BBC, CNN, and Al-Jazeera, the great national newspapers or is it going to be on the web? Should standards be encouraged or enforced?

Charles Wheeler Award

The conference will conclude in the evening of the June 8 with the annual presentation of the British Journalism Review’s Charles Wheeler Award for Outstanding Contribution to Broadcast Journalism.

This 1½ day conference will take place on Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 June 2011. The fee for registration is £165 with a concessionary rate of £85 for students, to cover all conference documentation, refreshments, 2 wine receptions and administration costs.
