This permanent post is available from 1 September 2011.

The Department of Culture, Film and Media was formed in 2010 from the merger of the former Institute of Film and Television Studies and the former Department of Cultural Studies. The new Department has an international reputation for its teaching and research along with worldwide collaborations with leading institutions (e.g. the British Film Institute) and industry (e.g. Fox Studios).

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key part in the development of the Department as it seeks to further strengthen its position as a leading international centre of teaching, learning and research in creative industries and digital media. The successful candidate will provide intellectual leadership for current and proposed research and teaching programmes in the broad area of creative industries and digital media and will have particular reponsibility for post-graduate provision related to creative industries and digital media.

Candidates should have a substantial record of publications, a proven ability to attract research funding and demonstrable experience of leading research groups. The person appointed will be expected to play a leading role in the development of research and teaching programmes in the UK and at the University’s international campuses in China and Malaysia. Experience of international research and knowledge exchange collaboration is desirable as is expertise in one or more of the following: screen industries; arts management; production cultures; curatorship.
