Eurasian Communication Association of North America at National Communication Association



As a result of increasing interest in the development of communication studies in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet republics, including the independent countries of Central Asia, the voting members of the former North American Russian Communication Association (NARCA) unanimously came to an agreement to change its name to the Eurasian Communication Association of North America (ECANA). According to the revised constitution, the purposes of the new organization are 1) to promote the study, criticism, research, teaching, and application of the artistic, humanistic, and scientific principles of communication in Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, the Baltic states, Central Asia and other Post-Soviet states; and 2) to encourage collaborative work between communication scholars in North American and the aforementioned regions. ECANA, a not-for-profit organization, exists for educational, scientific, and literary purposes only. We welcome participation of all professionals and students who are involved in communication-related disciplines, including:
Interpersonal communication
Communication in small groups
Journalism and mass communications
Business and professional communication
Intercultural and international communication
Communication in political, rhetorical, and other discourses
Communicative aspects of public relations
Communication and conflict resolution
Computer-mediated communication
Health communication
Risk and crisis communication
Communicative aspects of marketing
Producing and interpreting messages
Semantics and pragmatics of discourse
Linguistic and psychological parameters of communicants
Theoretical and applied aspects of persuasion and argumentation, etc. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
