Job description
At the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication, you will have an opportunity to collaborate with renowned academics with an international approach. As a lecturer, you will also be teaching in a dynamic and stimulating environment.

The PhD research focuses on ?dark tourism?: the tourist consumption of sites associated with death and suffering. Famous examples of such sites are Ground Zero, the war trenches at Ieper, Poenari Castle, and the Parisian cemetery Père-Lachaise. Recent years have seen explosive growth in this type of tourism, with far-reaching implications for the experience and organization of what has been labeled ?difficult? or ?dark? heritage. Still little is known about why people would like to visit these sites. How can we explain the increasing popularity of dark tourism within contemporary culture?
