Tenure-track position in Digital Media

The Cultural Studies Department at Trent University invites applications for a tenure-stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting July 1st, 2012. Please note that this position is subject to budgetary approval.

We are looking for a versatile cultural theorist and active scholar in the area of Media Studies, with a specialization in Digital Media. The successful candidate will have a completed Ph.D., an excellent teaching record, a research program with a focus in digital media studies, and demonstrated ability in academic/administrative organisation. The successful candidate will most likely be asked to anchor three “core” Media courses in the Cultural Studies Department -- “Introduction to Media Studies” at the 1st year level (being introduced for the first time in 2012-13), “Media and Society” at the 2nd year level, and an Advanced Studies in Digital Media course at the 4th year level. Experience in working with teaching assistants would be an asset. The new tenure track faculty member will also be invited to participate in the life of the Department and in the graduate programs associated with the Department (PhD in Cultural Studies and MA in Theory, Culture, and Politics), as w!
 ell as play a central role in the new multi-Departmental Media Studies Program, which is scheduled to launch in September 2012 (now pending Ministry approval).*
