*ENCUENTROS CAMBRIDGE 2012: BRINGING CHILEAN RESEARCHERS TOGETHER*

*The 6^th version of Encuentros, the most important event that brings together Chilean researchers working at high-impact centers around the world, will be held in Paris, France, on July 4^th -6^th , 2012. *

The central theme of the Encuentros Paris 2012 Conference will be the exploration of alternatives to effectively integrate Chilean scientists and from other nationalities, trained abroad, into the process of economic and social progress in Chile. This subject converges with the analysis of global issues as international mobility and the contribution of knowledge to the development of emerging countries. Our scope goes beyond a theoretical analysis of this subject, proposing a conference simultaneously focused in practical ways of implementing this goal. Specifically, we propose a gathering space for academics, public institutions and private companies, thus promoting the establishment of cooperative projects among Latin America, Europe and North America.

The conference takes place in English, lasts for three days, and aims to gather a total of 300 participants, representing the main interest areas of Chilean researchers abroad. This year's program [link to: http://www.encuentros2012.org/program.php] will include seven sessions covering medical sciences, life sciences, engineering, math, renewable energies, education, communication, economy, public policy and urban studies. Each session will combine expositions from renowned international investigators and young scientists.

During the conference, round-table discussions about relevant topics such as how to combine sciences and business or how to re-integrate and transfer knowledge in your home country after studying and researching in Europe, will take place. In addition, poster presentations with the work of at least 100 young researchers will be interspersed.
