Wake Forest University Department of Communication and the American
Ethnic Studies Program invite students, scholars, community members,
interest groups, and all those interested to a Symposium to discuss
immigration, mobility, and citizenship. We will launch the Where Are
You From? Project <http://www.youtube.com/user/WhereAreYouFromAES> and
discuss stories of mobility, origins and immigration with the
participants, scholars and activists.
The Symposium will feature keynote addresses by *Anne Demo*, Syracuse
University, and *Brad Vivian*, Syracuse University, as well as a
workshop by special guest researcher and activist *Angela Kocze*,
European Central University, Hungary.
We welcome all contributions addressing themes related to immigration,
mobility, minority rights, and citizenship (papers, proposals for
panels, and other creative presentations).
Issues may include, but are not limited to:
· Policies on citizenship, immigration, minority rights
· Visual representations of migrants and minorities in the media
· Citizenship and memory
· Investing in local communities and programs for inclusion
· Paths to citizenship, voting rights
· Citizenship and religion
· Citizenship, immigration, mobility and social media and new technology
· Citizenship, immigration, mobility in films and documentary

*Papers* must not exceed 25 pages and include a separate cover page
with complete contact information. No information identifying the
author should appear on the paper.
*Panel Discussion/Debate/Roundtable Proposals* must include a 250-word
abstract, a 250-word rationale, and a list of participants, their
affiliation and contact information.

Scholarships for travel and lodging expenses are available for
students. If you wish to be considered for the scholarship, please
include a short letter with your application.
