This book considers how the screen as a cognitive 
artefact is impacting our visual and written 
culture.   It analyzes its progressive insertion 
in Western society, where its technical mediation 
has strengthened the co-evolution between man and 
media and the drive for spectacles and services 
that characterizes the cyberist moment in which 
we are.   The stages of this socio-technical 
process organize the progression of the various 
chapters: invention, domestication, mediation, mediatization and socialization.
