HCI INTERNATIONAL 2011
Call for Papers & Participation

We invite contributions for the Parallel Session "Community goes
Mobile" of the 4th International Conference on Online Communities and Social
Computing (http://www.hcii2011.org/index.php?module=webpage&id=23), one of
the affiliated conferences of the HIC International 2011
(http://www.hcii2011.org/), to take place in Orlando, Florida, USA, 9-14
July 2011.

The session titled "Community goes Mobile" aims to capture a unique
synergistic moment in communication history: the seamless integration of
mobile, locative and computer media, a development that has allowed Internet
social connectivity to become a truly mobile and ubiquitous experience and
mobile communication to become a networked phenomenon. Mobile social
networking, mobile community, location-based social interactions are the
core concepts exemplifying this development.

Abstracts of 800 words are sought that deal with this new paradigm in
communication and with issues such as (but not limited to):
. Mobile social networks
. Novel user interfaces
. Novel interaction techniques
. Location-aware applications and geo-social connectivity
. Geo-social connectivity and location-based capabilities
. Generation of new cultural and communication genres
. Changes in sociality and spatiality
. The access of internet-based sites from mobile devices
. The Mobile Internet and Mobile Community
. Mobility and hybridity
. Design tools and methods for mobile systems
. Ethnographic studies with mobile technology

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Abstracts of 800 words should be submitted in either DOC or PDF format
through the Conference Management System (CMS) at: https://www.hcii2011.org/

An abstract should include a statement of the objective and significance of
the proposed presentation, a description of the methods used and a
discussion of the results obtained. Papers in the theoretical category could
discuss with models, concepts, and structures; papers in the generic
category could present research results of broad applicability; and papers
in the applied category are expected to illustrate how the demands of
particular application areas shape the way generic research is translated
into practical innovation.
Note: Individuals can appear as co-authors in several papers in HCI
International 2011 and the affiliated conferences, but can present only one
paper.
