[Commlist] New issue Science Fiction, Film and Television
Wed Mar 26 19:22:15 GMT 2025
The latest issue of /SCIENCE FICTION FILM & TELEVISION /is now available
online.
Liverpool University Press is pleased to inform you of the latest
content in /_SCIENCE FICTION FILM & TELEVISION
<https://www.liverpooluniversitypress.co.uk/journals/id/54/volume/15/issue/6684/>_//_ (SFFTV),
_/a highly regarded publication that is essential reading for those
working in and researching Science Fiction studies.
_Volume 18.1
<https://liverpooluniversitypress.co.uk/toc/sfftv/18/1>_ contains a
special feature born out of a spirit of impish provocation following the
commercial failure of /The Marvels/ (2023). The contributors to this
issue suggest that this provocation itself came on the heels of a long
run of disappointing films and series across the entirety of the Marvel
Cinematic Universe (MCU)’s post-/Endgame/ “Phase Four” (2021–22) and
“Phase Five” (2023–25) that, collectively, suggested the
twenty-plus-film series had finally reached the point of diminishing
returns. If the MCU as we once knew it is finished, in whatever sense
and to whatever extent we decide that’s true, the four short pieces that
follow offer tools that might help us start to figure out what comes next.
