*Seeking a Book Reviews Editor for Popular Communication*

The journal Popular Communication, published by Taylor & Francis, is looking to appoint a Book Reviews Editor.

This role would ideally suit an early career scholar or later stage PhD student who wishes to work with the new editorial team to establish a thriving book reviews section. The Book Reviews Editor will develop expertise in editing, commissioning and reviewing, expand their professional networks, and contribute to the development of knowledge within the discipline. There is a modest stipend of $400 available which the Book Reviews Editor can use in support of the carrying out of their role.

The position involves selecting relevant recent titles, contacting and commissioning appropriate reviewers, and overseeing the reviews process from first submission to publication-ready copy. In the first year, the appointed Editor will be mentored by a member of the Editorial team to establish the procedures for the book reviews process; after this first year, they will solely assume the majority of responsibilities associated with the role.

*Key Responsibilities of the role of Book Review Editor include:*

  * Identifying appropriate books for review in relevant disciplines.
  * Maintaining networks and contacts at relevant publishers.
  * Reviewing and offering feedback on book review submissions.
  * Using the journal’s online platform to manage content.
  * Liaising with the wider Editorial team to ensure the commissioning
    and publication of timely reviews.
