Intellect is pleased to announce that East Asian Journal of Popular
Culture 9.1 is out now!
Special Issue: ‘Religion in Popular Global Culture’
Five articles examine the engagement of religion with various examples
of popular global culture. Two articles deal with popular portrayals of
the recent colonial past in postwar Japan and Taiwan. The Book Reviews
section features commentary on recently published works that relate to
themes discussed in the research articles.

Aims & Scope
The East Asian Journal of Popular Cultureis the first academic
peer-reviewed journal for scholars, teachers and students from around
the world who have an active and passionate interest in the popular
culture of East Asia. The journal is devoted to all aspects of popular
culture in East Asia and the interplay between East Asia and the wider
world.
