Thu Aug 19 10:18:54 GMT 2021
We are very pleased to announce the publication of Reclaiming Popular
Documentary, a collection of eighteen original essays edited by Christie
Milliken and Steve F. Anderson and published by Indiana University Press.
We are especially indebted to our contributors who offer diverse,
critical interpretations of "the popular" in relation to documentary and
documentary studies. With perspectives from both makers and scholars,
Reclaiming Popular Documentary includes essays by Ezra Winton, Patricia
Aufderheide, Zoë Druick, Devon Coutts, Sabiha Ahmad Khan, Anthony Kinik,
Michael Brendan Baker, Allison de Fren, Jonathan Kahana, Shilyh Warren,
S. Topiary Landberg, Landon Palmer, Dylan Nelson, Alexandra Juhasz, Rick
Prelinger and George S. Larke-Walsh.
Topics include: festival studies, public television and public interest
documentary, environmental docs, short forms and web practices, video
essays, auteurism, feminist documentary, documentary genres (true crime,
melodrama, music docs), participatory performances, viral media, and
virtual reality.
