section on Cultural responses to lockdown *

The new issue of the /Journal of Greek Media and Culture/, 6:2, is now 
out - and it has plenty of rich material to keep you interested!

The main part consists of a special issue on 'Greek Screen Industries' 
has been edited by Georgia Aitaki (Örebro University), Lydia 
Papadimitriou (Liverpool John Moores University) and Yannis Tzioumakis 
(University of Liverpool). It includes an extended introduction by the 
editors entitled 'Greek screen industries: From political economy to 
Media Industry Studies' and five articles - on news and populism 
(Philemon Bantimaroudis and Theodora Maniou); on alternative hybrid 
media with special focus on EfSyn (Lambrini Papadopoulou); on commercial 
television drama (Georgia Aitaki), on promotional screen industries 
(Afroditi Nikolaidou and Ifigeneia Mylona); and video games and the law 
(Elina Roinioti).

The issue also has a 'Special Section' on 'Cultural Responses to 
Lockdown', edited by Eleni Papargyriou and Lydia Papadimitriou. The 
section includes short texts on the impact of the pandemic on: poetry 
(Fiona Antonelaki); ancient drama (Eleftheria Ioannidou);  film and the 
Thessaloniki festival (Anna Poupou); and music streams (Danae Stefanou).

A 'virtual roundtable' on Modern Greek Studies in the 21st century 
organised by Kristina Gedgaudaite brings together six more post-graduate 
and early career researchers who discuss the challenges and 
opportunities for the discipline.

Aside from book reviews, the issue also contains a visual essay by 
photography researcher Christina Kolaiti, which explores photographic 
self-representation and psychoanalysis.
