[Commlist] Two fully funded PhD opportunities at Birmingham City University

Wed Sep 11 16:15:08 GMT 2024

As part of the Media Literacy in the Larger World project, Nick Webber is very happy to be able to share two fully funded PhD studentship opportunities here at BCU. These are offered in collaboration with our partner Meedan – a US tech non-profit which works on media verification and digital media literacy – and are funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Sida. These projects concern technology-facilitated gender-based violence (PhD in Linguistics), and election misinformation (PhD in Media and Cultural Studies), and draw on Meedan’s extensive network of international partners, and data produced from election fact-checking processes. Please share widely! And please also note that these studentships are only open to citizens of countries on the DAC list of ODA recipients (https://www.oecd.org/en/topics/sub-issues/oda-eligibility-and-conditions/dac-list-of-oda-recipients.html <https://www.oecd.org/en/topics/sub-issues/oda-eligibility-and-conditions/dac-list-of-oda-recipients.html>) and that the funding covers international fee rates.

Applications are currently open, and close on 30 September 2024. You can find further information, along with key contact points, by following these links.
