The School of Creative Arts and Industries at Canterbury Christ Church University invites applications for a PhD Scholarship in one of the following areas of Creative Arts and Media research:

  * Immersive digital cultural heritage experiences
  * Cultural history of seaside photography (with reference to the
    South-East archive of seaside photography)
  * Screen heritage of South-East England
  * Local media and journalism
  * Sustainability and media practice.

AWARD

PhD scholarship including:

  * a stipend of £19,237 per year
  * a tuition fee waiver for three years
  * an annual expense allowance of £500.

DEADLINE

5 August 2024

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  * Applications will be considered based on the quality of the research
    proposal and its alignment with one of the research themes outlined
    below. The strengths of the individual candidate (in relation to
    academic competence and commitment) will be considered.
  * Candidates should hold at least an Upper Second Class Bachelor’s
    degree or Master’s degree in creative arts, media, music, or
    performing arts, or other relevant subject area.
  * All non-native speakers of English must be proficient in written and
    spoken English.
  * The successful applicant will be required to undertake a total of
    150 hours of teaching related work during years two and three of study.
  * The applicant must have applied for both a place on the PhD
    programme, as well as a scholarship by the scholarship application
    deadline.
  * The successful candidate must be available to begin their studies on
    1 October 2024 on a full-time basis.
  * The successful scholarship applicant must live in the UK during
    their studies, within commutable distance to campus.
  * We welcome applications from researchers in underrepresented groups.
    We actively encourage applicants from diverse career paths and
    backgrounds, as well as from those returning from a career break.
