We are looking for a Post-doc fellow for the project “The geo-economic 
state space through transnational incubators: The politics of

The Smart City Cluster (City University of Hong Kong) is seeking to 
attract a full-time Post-doc fellow for the project “The geo-economic 
state space through transnational incubators: The politics of 
infrastructure” funded by the Research Grant Council of Hong Kong. The 
project is led by June Wang (City University of Hong Kong), through a 
collaboration with Ugo Rossi (Gran Sasso Science Institute), Sami Moisio 
(University of Finland) and Andrew Pollio (Politecnico di Torino).

The successful candidate will collaborate with the PI and the three 
Co-Is to achieve collective research goals. The post-doc researcher will 
be involved in tracing digital and social infrastructures for 
transnational incubators in China, Kenya, Italy and Finland. This 
proposed study is an effort in sociocultural and political geography to 
explore the emerging geo-economic statecraft and its spatiality 
stretching through transnational networking incubators. We propose the 
lens of STS-led infrastructure to draw insights on the innovative 
economy by economic geographers, the effective state power through 
re-configuration of political authorities, corporate and individual 
biopowers, and flow-&-nodes oriented territoriality.

The candidate is expected to hold a PhD degree in geography or a related 
relevant discipline, has a demonstrated interest in the digital/platform 
economy, and has received adequate training in qualitative and 
quantitative data sources. Familiarity with one of the research sites 
(i.e. Chinese, African or European cities) is also considered a strong plus.

The successful candidate will be enrolled as a pos-doctoral fellow at 
the City University of Hong Kong for one year, renewable once. The 
preferred starting date is 1 May 2024 (or sooner).
