*About the Role
*Screen Studies at the University of Melbourne is part of the dual-discipline Screen and Cultural Studies Program, which examines the history and practice of contemporary screen media. Our research looks at the production, aesthetics, circulation, consumption, and uses of contemporary and historical screen media, as the environmental and social impacts and uses of screen practice.

We are seeking a Lecturer in Screen Studies to join the Screen and Cultural Studies program and contribute to teaching and supervision at undergraduate, honors, and postgraduate levels, and conduct research activity appropriate to their discipline.

Responsibilities include:

  * Subject (module) coordinating and delivery
  * Curriculum designing and innovation, including cross-disciplinary
    approaches
  * Researching outputs including (but not limited to) peer-reviewed
    journal articles, book chapters, books, creative works, and
    commissioned reports
  * Actively engaging in service, leadership, and coordination roles in
    the discipline, School, and Faculty demonstrating respectful,
    inclusive behaviours at all times, and building trust among colleagues

*About You
*You are an experienced lecturer with a passion for screen studies and with the capacity to teach across a range of screen theories, intellectual traditions, and research methods. You will demonstrate professional and collegial behaviour of a very high standard. You will have the capacity to attract research grants, industry, and cultural partnerships or consultancies.

You will also have:

  * A completed Ph.D. in a relevant discipline
  * Demonstrated ability for excellence in teaching including the
    capacity for syllabus/curriculum design
  * Ability to supervise honours and postgraduate research
  * A strong record in research with a developing profile of outputs
    relevant to the discipline. Candidates with research specialisations
    in one or more of the following areas are especially encouraged to
    apply:
      o Indigenous / First Nations film and media,
      o digital and post-digital screen media and cultures,
      o World cinemas and media,
      o documentary studies and documentary and/or experimental video
        practice,
      o feminist and intersectional approaches to screen media.

Cultural Studies at the University of Melbourne is part of the dual-discipline Program in Screen and Cultural Studies. Our discipline is interested in how contemporary life is being transformed by the intensified mobilities of people and cultures; the everyday impacts of new media technologies; and the social and environmental consequences of industrial modernization.

Responsibilities include:

  * Subject (module) coordination and delivery
  * Curriculum design and innovation, including cross-disciplinary
    approaches
  * Development of technology-based teaching, learning, and assessment
    programs and resources
  * Research outputs including (but are not limited to) peer-reviewed
    journal articles, book chapters, books, creative works, and
    commissioned reports

*About You
*You are an experienced Teaching Specialist with a passion for teaching excellence in a range of cultural studies theories, intellectual traditions, and methods. You will have experience in teaching diverse cohorts in a manner that reflects the global dimensions of the discipline.

You will also have:

  * A completed Ph.D. in cultural studies or a closely related discipline
  * Capacities for syllabus/curriculum design and teaching innovation
  * A developing profile of high-quality research outputs relevant to
    cultural studies
  * Capacity to supervise honours and postgraduate coursework degree theses
