[Commlist] Two PhD Studentships at University of York

Applications are invited for two funded PhD studentships at the 
University of York, available on a full-time basis to start in December 
2021.

The purpose of the two studentships is to explore representations, 
depictions and/or reconstructions of the twentieth-century black inner 
city in either (i) literary and (ii) cinematic sources. Applicants can 
choose which city/cities, author/s, filmmaker/s or genre/genres as their 
focus.

Drawing on a range of sociological, geographical, literary and film 
studies concepts and theories these theses will contribute to my 
Leverhulme Trust funded project Archiving the Inner City: Race and the 
Politics of Urban Memory project.
