[ecrea] Two fully-funded PhD positions in Journalism Studies and News Audience Research
Wed Oct 10 07:29:34 GMT 2018
We are pleased to invite applications for two 3-year, fully-funded PhD
scholarships to study the public consumption of journalism and
development of audiences’ news habits in a digital era. The PhDs are
part of a collaborative research project, ‘Beyond the Here and Now of
News’, funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark, which will be
conducted both at Aalborg University’s Copenhagen campus (AAU-Cph) and
Roskilde University (RUC). The successful candidates will be part of a
collaborative research team, headed by Associate Professor Chris Peters
(AAU-Cph) and Professor Kim Christian Schrøder (RUC), looking to study
the social, cultural, technological, and material processes that
influence how people consume news and what leads them to change their
habits. One PhD project is expected to centre around the theme of
‘Developing News Repertoires in Everyday Life’, while the other will
focus upon ‘News Habits across The Lifespan’, although applicants are
encouraged to suggest alternatives they feel fit within the project’s
aims and directions.
One PhD position will be located at AAU-Cph, the other at RUC.
Accordingly, interested applicants are highly encouraged to submit the
same application to the related PhD advertisements for both positions.
The deadlines are November 15 (RUC) and November 18 (AAU-Cph). Both PhD
candidates are expected to begin on January 1, 2019, or as soon as
possible thereafter. We would like to stress that, as field work will
be conducted in Denmark, proficiency in Danish is required for the
positions.
