The Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries at the University of Portsmouth invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Television and Broadcasting. We are seeking an academic with a broad range of practical expertise and theoretical knowledge able to work across a range of degrees at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Applications are welcome from those with professional expertise in the areas of Television/Broadcasting – as a Producer, Director, HoD.

The successful candidate will be joining a highly successful team delivering BSc (Hons) Television & Broadcasting and will be active in helping to develop new curricular areas related to broadcasting. In particular, they will be teaching current professional industry-level practice and technologies in broadcasting within various environments – primarily, Outside Broadcasting, Multi-Camera TV Studio Production, and Live Television. The ability to work as part of a team and flexible working patterns are essential. A strong industrial background is essential. A significant contribution to employability and professional engagement with relevant internal and external organisations, at a regional, national and international level is also essential.

The School of Film, Media & Communication at the University of Portsmouth aims to be at the forefront of cutting edge technologies within the Creative & Cultural Industries, covering Film, Television & Broadcasting, Media Theory and Journalism in a vibrant, entrepreneurial, very well-resourced, cross-disciplinary environment.

The School of Film, Media and Communication came into existence on 1st August 2018 provides a consolidation of the Faculty’s existing teaching, research and innovation strengths in Creative Writing, Film and Media studies, Film Production, TV and Broadcasting, Journalism and Communication whilst also aiming to be at the forefront of cutting edge technologies within the Creative & Cultural Industries and providing students with a vibrant, entrepreneurial, well-resourced, cross-disciplinary environment.

It is anticipated that in joining the School, the post holder will have the capability to conduct 3* or higher level research in anticipation of REF 2021, and foster new relationships nationally and internationally to enhance and augment teaching, research and practice in the School and beyond.
