[ecrea] Assistant or Associate Professor in Journalism Studies/Digital Methods at Aarhus University
Wed Jun 13 20:27:59 GMT 2018
*Assistant or Associate Professor in Journalism Studies/Digital Methods
at Aarhus University*
The School of Communication and Culture invites applications for a
position as assistant or associate professor in journalism studies
or/and digital methods. The position is based at the Department of Media
and Journalism Studies, which is part of the School of Communication and
Culture.
The assistant professorship is a three-year training position, after
which there will be an opportunity to apply for a subsequent associate
professorship. The associate professorship is a tenured position.
The appointment begins on 15 November 2018, or as soon as possible
thereafter.
*The position*
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated researcher and teacher who
is willing and able to develop the field of digital methods and
journalism studies at the Department of Media and Journalism Studies.
The position is open to both assistant (adjunkt) and associate professor
(lektor) candidates. The position includes tasks and responsibilities in
all of Aarhus University’s core activities in the areas of research,
teaching and supervision, talent development and knowledge exchange.
*Research*
Given the increasing amount, diversity and interconnectedness of
journalism in digital forms (both contemporary and archived), we are
interested in candidates who have a strong research record in either
journalism studies or/and digital methods. Candidates who can document
research within journalism studies based on digital methods are strongly
encouraged to apply; the position is, however, also open to candidates
from journalism studies with no record of applying digital methods as
well as candidates who can document research based on digital methods
within another social science or humanities fields.
Regardless of whether the candidates’ main focus is digital methods or
journalism studies, they must submit a research plan that clearly
describes how they intend to develop innovative digital methods for the
study of one or more central issues within journalism studies (e.g.
media institutions, technologies and platforms, democracy, citizenship,
community, professionalism, participation, gender, political economy or
globalisation).

dear Jakob,
I received a very vague and incomplete job posting request for
the commlist (see below), and no reply to my query to Mette about this.
Can you confirm that this is a genuine position?
And is it this one?

Dear Mette,
Can you please add more information to the posting request?
This I can't post (because it hardly contains any information).
The guidelines at commlist.org explicitly say that postings
should *not* be a paragraph and a link.
Thanks,
Nico
