]Leibniz ScienceCampus Tübingen "Cognitive Interfaces" is a joint research
project initiated by the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen and the
Leibniz-Institute für Wissensmedien (IWM) on the acquisition of knowledge
and education with digital media and their investigation in the
interdisciplinary network. The research network is supported by funding
from the state of Baden-Württemberg and the University of Tübingen, the
Leibniz Association and the Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM). The
Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM) is a member of the Leibniz
Association.
We are looking for a committed
PhD Candidate, 65%
starting to work at IWM on July 1, 2017 (limited to June 30, 2020) for the
project “Overcoming cognitive and motivational barriers for networking:
contact recommendation systems in professional settings". The project
bridges computer science and psychology and is jointly led by Prof. Dr.
Sonja Utz (IWM, Social Media) and Prof. Dr. Alexandra Kirsch (University
of Tübingen, Human Computer Interaction). It aims to develop a new
recommendation system suited for knowledge work by a) developing an
algorithm which makes better contact recommendations for professional
contexts, and b) incorporating theory-based and empirically tested ways of
presenting the contact recommendations in such a way that people actually
use them. Depending on the background of the candidate, the focus of the
work will be more on the psychological studies/experiments or the
development of the algorithm.
