For this role we are seeking a Lecturer with very good academic and/or
industry experience to teach Global Media Management at post-graduate level.
You will have up-to-date knowledge of academic and industry issues and
debates in digital media culture, network society, global issues and
globalization, creative media and design in digital culture, issues of
(big) data and/or mobile culture and platforms.
You will be required to deliver and support in developing an innovative
teaching programme, utilising a variety of different teaching methods.
Working with the existing staff you will also be actively involved in
administration, assessment and recruitment processes. Ideally, you will
have some existing industry connections and ideas about how they can be
creatively used to enhance the student experience and build the profile
of the course.
You are expected to be an active researcher with at least an emerging
national/international profile and proven potential to deliver research
outputs at a level commensurate to a Russell Group university. You
should also have a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and
experience in a relevant subject area.
Course background:
WSA GMM is focused on global media in a critical and digital context,
taking into account the network cultural landscape as a background to
understand communication. The course is aimed to develop a critical
generation of media managers. The course engages with NGOs, public
communications and the wider issues in technologies, social practices
and critical case studies of globalization. WSA GMM focuses on networks
and mobile cultures and aims to develop academically minded participants
that have a good understanding of the changes in media industries
including the non-profits.
The School’s Research Centre Global Futures in Art, Design and Media
offers a vibrant research environment and mentoring of junior staff to
help their career development.
