*Chair of Communication Department USF*
The Department of Communication at the University of South Florida seeks
applications for the position of Department Chair.The appointment will
be for a 12-month, tenured, professor.Beginning date is expected to be
August 2017.
The Department of Communication at USF offers B.A., M.A., and Ph.D.
programs, with over 700 undergraduate majors, 50 graduate students, and
18 full-time faculty members.Located in Tampa, Florida, USF is a
comprehensive research university with over 42,000 students and nearly
50,000 in the 3-campus USF system.
The Department of Communication seeks to build upon its national
reputation as a leader in qualitative and critical studies by attracting
faculty with diverse and innovative approaches to the study of
Communication. USF is on the path to designation as a preeminent
university in Florida and the nation, and is positioned to become a
member of the American Association of Universities. USF hopes torecruit
and retain outstanding scholars, researchers, teachers, and students who
will contribute to creative and thoughtful solutions to today’s social
problems.
*Minimum Qualifications.*Ph.D. in Communication with an excellent record
of publication and teaching commensurate with appointment as full
professor with tenure.
*Preferred Qualifications:*Preference will be given to candidates with
the following qualifications:
1.
Previous experience as Chair in a research-oriented program offering
graduate degrees.
2.
Administrative and leadership experience that supports appointment
as a successful department Chair.
3.
Demonstrates understanding of and compatibility with the
Department’s focus on qualitative and critical studies of human
communication.
4.
Ability to contribute to the national and/or international
visibility of our programs and ability to contribute to existing
areas of department strength.
5.
Commitment to diversity and to maintaining an inclusive department
and university.
6.
Ability to foster external funding and enhance fundraising for the
Department.
