The Centre for Cultural Policy Studies wishes to appoint an Associate
Professor or Assistant Professor in Media and Communication to play a
leading role in the Centreâs teaching, research and management. This is
an exciting opportunity to develop innovative approaches to teaching and
research in a wholly postgraduate context, working with a small and
committed team of colleagues. Warwick has an excellent international
reputation for research in the creative industries, media and cultural
policy and you will build on and complement the Centreâs research
strengths.
The Centre would be particularly interested in recruiting a researcher
specializing in the areas of media industries, media policies and/or
media audiences.
You will contribute to teaching on our MA in Global Media and
Communication. You will also teach one or more option modules available
for students on all our four MAs. Our taught MA programmes are central
to our international reputation and to the generation of new research.
You will be expected to provide intellectual leadership and to identify
synergies between emergent themes in teaching and research, as well as
contributing to teaching and course management. You will be expected to
attract and supervise research students, as well as supervising MA major
projects.
You will be expected to develop new areas of research in the broad area
of media and communication as part of the Centreâs strategic
development. There are also opportunities to develop research
partnerships with other University departments and centres, and to
engage with constituencies and organisations outside the University. You
will be expected to seek appropriate external funding in support of your
research plans. We welcome applicants with experience of professional
practice in the area of media and communication.
To be appointed at assistant-level position, you will hold a doctoral
degree and have a proven record of achievement in research, with a
developing international reputation in media and communication. You will
have clear potential for, or demonstrated excellence in, producing
world-leading publications in an area relevant to the post. You will
have university teaching experience, preferably including experience of,
or clear potential to engage in postgraduate teaching. You will be
expected to develop high-quality bids for external research funding, and
to demonstrate a commitment to achieving non-academic impact. You will
participate as appropriate in the administration of the Centre.
To be appointed at associate-level position (equivalent to senior
lecturer level in comparable institutions), you will hold a doctoral
degree and have a substantial record of achievement in research, with a
demonstrable international reputation in media and communication. You
will have produced, and can demonstrate ongoing commitment to producing,
world-leading publications in an area relevant to the post. You will
have substantial teaching experience, preferably including experience of
postgraduate teaching and supervision. You will have submitted
high-quality bids for external research funding, and can demonstrate a
commitment to achieving non-academic impact. You will have experience of
leadership or initiative in curriculum development, and will undertake
appropriate leading roles in the administration of the Centre.
Candidates should state whether they are applying to be appointed at
assistant or associate professor level.
