[ecrea] Vacancy Research Associate/Fellow - Televising Childbirth

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Fellow to work on the project ‘Televising Childbirth: Understanding media impacts on perceptions of risk, women’s choices and health'.

You will work with Dr. Julie Roberts and a multi-disciplinary team at the University of Nottingham, including Dr Catherine Johnson from the Department of Culture, Film and Media. The post will be based in the Maternal Health & Wellbeing research group, School of Health Sciences, and is funded by a Wellcome Trust Seed Award.

You will make substantial contributions to:

1. A review of the literature around media effects, television and health;

2. Analysis of television programmes and associated web content;

3. Co-facilitation of focus groups with women and with midwives.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to high quality research publications.

Applicants must hold a PhD (or equivalent) or be close to completion of a PhD in a relevant subject, with skills in: literature review, media analysis, and facilitating focus groups. Relevant subjects include but are not limited to: medical sociology, cultural/media studies, television studies, health sciences, medical humanities. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong interest in interdisciplinary research and excellent communication skills.

This post will be offered on a part-time fixed-term contract for a period of 9 months. Hours of work 0.5 FTE but working pattern can be negotiated.
