Tenure Track Position in Media Studies: Media Theory and Criticism



The Department of Media Studies at the University of San Francisco seeks a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Media Studies with expertise in media/cultural theory, aesthetics, and the critical analysis of popular culture. Areas of research may include, among others, television studies, film studies, popular music studies, game studies.



The appointment will begin Fall 2014. As well as teaching courses in their area of specialty, applicants will teach at least two core Media Studies class such as Introduction to Media Studies, Media Institutions, Media Theory and Criticism, or Media Audiences and Research.



Applicants should have an earned Ph.D. degree in Media Studies, Communication, Cultural Studies, or a very closely related field by August 31, 2014. Applicants should have evidence of excellence in teaching as well as a research track record with potential for national impact. Teaching load for a tenure track assistant professor is two four-unit classes for three semesters, followed by three four unit-classes for one semester (a 2-2-2-3 rotation).
