The Department of Communication Studies of the Faculty of Political and 
Social Sciences is seeking to fill the following full-time vacancy:


*Academic staff in the area of Media and Journalism*


Job description:

   * You will be responsible for the following courses /Journalistieke
     nieuwsgaring en productie (Journalistic news gathering and
     production, 6 STP, 45h.), Journalistiek en crossmedialiteit
     (Journalism and Crossmedia, 6 STP, 45h.),  Seminarie Journalistiek
     en mediatraining (Seminar Journalism and Mediatraining, 6 STP,
     45h.), Seminarie Mediatraining (Seminar Mediatraining, 3 STP,
     30h.) and// Seminarie Mediamanagement (Seminar Mediamanagement, 6
     STP, 45h.)./
   * You will expand the scientific research in the area of media and
     journalism, with special interest in changes and challenges in
     this sector.
   * You will acquire and manage external funding.
   * You will offer scientific services as a representative in the
     councils and commissions of the department and faculty.

Profile and requirements:

   * You hold a doctoral degree (PhD) in Communication Studies,
     Political Sciences, Sociology, Economy, Social-Economic Sciences,
     Law, Psychology, or other relevant domain in the Humanities.
   * The emphases in your teaching correspond to the UA educational vision.
   * Your academic qualities comply with the requirements stipulated in
     the university's policy.
   * You have leadership skills (or the potential to develop them).
   * You are quality-oriented, conscientious, creative and cooperative.
   * You are able to teach both in English and (after three years in
     the case of a non-native speaker) in Dutch.

We offer:

   * commensurate with the experience and the academic qualifications:
         o Either a full-time position as a lecturer, in a temporary
           appointment in the tenure track for a term of five years.
           This position will lead to an immediate permanent
           appointment as a senior lecturer if the performance is
           assessed favourably on the basis of previously fixed and
           publicly announced evaluation criteria.
         o Or a full-time position as a senior lecturer or higher,
           generally entailing a permanent appointment. In the case of
           a first appointment to the corps of academic personnel
           (ZAP), the university board may proceed to a temporary
           appointment for a period not exceeding three years. This
           position will lead to a permanent appointment if the
           performance is assessed favourably.
   * The date of appointment will be October 1^st  2012.
   * A dynamic and stimulating work environment.

Opdracht:

   * U doceert  volgende opleidingsonderdelen: /Journalistieke
     nieuwsgaring en productie (6 STP, 45u.), Journalistiek en
     crossmedialiteit (6 STP, 45u.),  Seminarie Journalistiek en
     mediatraining (6 STP, 45u), Seminarie Mediatraining (3 STP, 30u.)
     /en/ Seminarie Mediamanagement (6 STP, 45u.)/
   * U bouwt onderzoek uit in het domein van media en journalistiek,
     met bijzondere aandacht voor veranderingen en uitdagingen in de
     sector.
   * U verwerft en beheert onderzoeksfondsen
   * Ook dienstverlening behoort tot uw takenpakket, zoals het zetelen
     in raden en commissies als vertegenwoordiger van uw Faculteit,
     Departement, geleding.

Profiel:

   * U bezit een doctoraat op proefschrift in de
     Communicatiewetenschappen, Politieke Wetenschappen, Sociologie,
     Economische Wetenschappen, Sociaal-economische wetenschappen,
     Rechtswetenschappen, Psychologie, Letteren en Wijsbegeerte of een
     ander relevant doctoraatsdiploma binnen de humane wetenschappen.
   * U legt in uw onderwijs de juiste accenten die passen binnen de UA
     visie op onderwijs.
   * uw onderzoekskwaliteiten sluiten aan bij de beleidslijnen van de
     universiteit.
   * U beschikt over (potentiële) leiderschapskwaliteiten.
   * U bent kwaliteitsgericht, integer, creatief en samenwerkingsgericht.
   * U bent bereid om in het Engels te doceren.

Wij bieden :

   * Ofwel een aanstelling in de graad van docent, in tijdelijk
     dienstverband in het tenure track stelsel voor een duur van vijf
     jaar. Deze periode mondt uit in een onmiddellijke vaste benoeming
     in de graad van hoofddocent, als het universiteitsbestuur de
     prestaties van betrokkene gunstig beoordeelt op basis van vooraf
     gestelde en bekend gemaakte beoordelingscriteria;
   * ofwel een voltijds ambt in de graad van hoofddocent of hoger, dat
     in principe aanleiding geeft tot een benoeming in vast verband.
     Het universiteitsbestuur kan, in geval van een eerste benoeming
     tot lid van het ZAP, overgaan tot een aanstelling in tijdelijk
     dienstverband voor een duur van ten hoogste drie jaar. Deze
     periode mondt uit in een vaste benoeming indien het
     universiteits­bestuur de prestaties van betrokkene gunstig beoordeelt;
   * Datum van indiensttreding is 1 oktober 2012.
   * Een dynamische en stimulerende werkomgeving.
