The Department of Communication Arts at Marymount Manhattan College
seeks applications for a tenure-track position in Communication and New
Media to begin fall 2013. The rank at the time of appointment to be
based on previous academic and/or professional experience.
Description: Teaching responsibilities will include courses in the
Communication Arts major and Journalism minor, including introduction to
journalism, journalism in the 21st century, and advanced-level
journalism courses related to their area(s) of specialization.
Requirements: A Ph.D. in Communication or a related field by the time of
appointment, a demonstrated record of teaching excellence, a commitment
to service, and an active research agenda; training in the foundations
of journalism and the critical analysis of news processes and content;
experience in news writing for digital media, new journalistic
practices; and a focus on social justice and/or citizen journalism.

Digital Media beginning September 2013. The rank at the time of
appointment will be based on previous academic and/or professional
experience.
Description: Teaching responsibilities will include courses in web
design at the intermediate and introductory levels, a survey course in
new media, and intermediate and advanced courses related to their
practice. The successful candidate will be an active, practicing artist
and scholar with a record of intellectually and culturally rigorous work
in areas of expertise that connect issues of social justice with digital
media practice. We encourage applicants with experience in areas such as
web design for social issues, serious games, community mapping and
mobile application development, and related areas.
Requirements: An MFA in Digital Media Arts or a related field by the
time of appointment, a demonstrated record of teaching excellence, a
commitment to service, and a strong creative agenda.

digital media, video and sound editing course; a survey course in new
media; and advanced courses related to their practice. The successful
candidate will be an active, practicing integrated digital media artist
and scholar with a record of intellectually and culturally rigorous work
in areas of expertise that cross media forms. The candidate will couple
digital media practice with a practice in video production and/or sound
art. We encourage applicants experienced in transmedia; gaming for the
humanities; video, mobile applications; and related areas.
Requirements: An MFA in Digital Media Arts, Transmedia, Integrated
Digital Media, Integrated Electronic Arts or a related field by the time
of appointment, a demonstrated record of teaching excellence, a
