The department of Social Sciences, Media and Journalism is seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer to lead its BA (Hons) Media&  Communication, one of the longest-established undergraduate degrees in Scotland in this field and ranked in the UK’s top 20 in the 2012 Sunday Times league table. With its combination of media analysis and practice, the programme enjoys close links with industry partners and a high reputation for academic research; the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the university’s 2014 REF submission in this area.

The primary purposes of this post is teaching in the media and communication subject area at undergraduate and postgraduate level, contribution to the university’s REF submission in the media subject area, Innovative curriculum development, engaging with communities and industry to reflect the mission and values of the Glasgow School for Business and Society and the University as well taking the role of Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Media&  Communication.

The successful candidate will hold an honours degree of 2.1 or above and PhD in appropriate specialism along with the ability to demonstrate expertise in delivering, lectures, seminars and other classes at undergraduate and postgraduate level and a proven track record of academic research. Further essential requirements for this role include experience of curriculum development in a relevant area in Higher Education, experience of student recruitment and knowledge of key contemporary issues in the fields of media analysis and theory.
