*Call for Applications: New Editor for Communication & Sport*

Sage announces the search for a new Editor for Communication & Sport (C&S). This cutting-edge, peer-reviewed journal is published bimonthly and has been influencing the fields of communication, media studies, and sport since its establishment in 2013. We are currently accepting Editor applications for a three-year term commencing January 1, 2027.

Communication & Sport publishes research and critical analysis from diverse disciplinary and theoretical perspectives to advance understanding of communication phenomena in the varied contexts through which sport touches individuals, society, and culture. The journal examines both communication in sport and communication of sport by considering sport in light of communication processes, strategies, industries, texts, and reception. It welcomes studies of sport and media in mass and new media settings, research on sport in interpersonal, group, organizational, and other communication contexts, and analyses of sport rhetoric, discourse, and narratives. C&S encourages studies of sport communication and media from broad disciplinary vistas including everything from sociology and politics to kinesiology and health studies.

The Editor will be responsible for soliciting, reviewing, and making final decisions on submissions to the Journal, and will manage all aspects of the publication and review process using the ScholarOne (Manuscript Central) electronic submission and review platform. The Editor is expected to maintain timely and effective communication, advance journal performance, and work towards upholding C&S's high-quality standard.

Ideal applicants should have an established scholarly record in both communication & media studies and sport, however individuals with a history of academic research in one or the other field of research are welcome to apply, as long as they can share demonstrated interest in the intersection of the two fields. Applicants should also possess strong organizational and management skills, as well as the ability to work well with others. Finally, applicants should share a commitment to Sage's mission: building bridges to knowledge — supporting the development of ideas through the research process to scholarship that is certified, taught, and applied.

Sage provides C&S with editorial support, but the institution that hosts the journal will also be expected to provide support for the Editor and the Journal office. Your application should indicate the expected level of institutional support, which might come in the form of additional faculty release time, travel funds, summer salary, the use of computers and other office equipment and associated utilities, support for additional editorial staff, student workers, and/or other basic expenses.

Applicants should send a letter of application which includes their vision for the future of the Journal and a description of their qualifications for the editorship. Applicants should also include copies of their CV and documentation indicating prospective institutional support. Please send by June 30, 2026.

Applications, nominations, and requests for additional information should be sent electronically to Vi La Bianca, Publishing Editor, at (vi.labianca /at/ sagepub.com) <mailto:(vi.labianca /at/ sagepub.com)>. Please put "C&S Editor Application" in the subject line of your email.
