The International Society of Media, Religion & Culture will be hosting a
Pre-Conference Colloquium for doctoral students on the day before the
start of the ISMRC bi-annual conference at Boston College.
This pre-conference will provide doctoral students the opportunity to
present their research, receive feedback from leaders in the field, and
to discuss theoretical, methodological and professional challenges, as
well as network with peers. This event is aimed at doctoral students who
are in an advanced stage of their studies, who have already begun
research and/or writing related to their dissertation.
Interested students should prepare a) a research statement (1,000 words
maximum) to provide a context for your work, methods used, progress to
date, primary challenges and concerns and b) an interest statement (200
words maximum) to indicate your reasons for participation and what you
hope to get out of this forum. Please also include details of your
institutional affiliation, contact information & email, and details of
your student status/year of study.
Selected applications will be asked to submit a sample chapter of the
thesis or major research project related to their dissertation (of
approximately 5000 words) to their mentor in advance of the pre-conference.
All materials are to be prepared in English and are due on or before
DEADLINE.
