Mon Feb 01 15:23:08 GMT 2021
With apologies for cross-posting, find below the CFP for an online event
about horror, cult and exploitation media, hosted by the Moving Image
and Popular Media Culture Research Group at Northumbria University (UK).
*Horror, Cult and Exploitation Media IV: An Online Workshop for PhDs and
ECRs (13 May 2021, Northumbria University)*
PhD students and Early Career Researchers working in the field(s) of
“horror, cult and exploitation” screen media, are invited to submit
abstracts about their research to deliver at an online workshop, hosted
by the Moving Image and Popular Media Culture Research Group at
Northumbria University, UK, on *Thursday 13 May 2021*.
The workshop – which follows three highly successful events in 2017,
2018 and 2019 (2020’s was cancelled due to Covid-19) – will take the
format of a mini-symposium, and consist of three sessions, each made up
of four speakers. Speakers will each deliver a 5-10 minute talk about
their research to their peers and to a panel of Northumbria’s academic
experts, providing a short introduction to their current project and
identifying several questions for discussion. After each presentation,
there will be an opportunity for the academic panel and other workshop
participants to feedback to each speaker, and to ask follow-up questions.
The workshop is intended to be a small-scale networking opportunity for
scholars with shared research interests, and to provide a relatively
informal opportunity for those newer to academia to engage in dialogue
with more established researchers.
The event will feature a presentation by Dr Kieran Foster (author of
/Hammer Goes to Hell: The House of Horror's Unmade Films/), who will
discuss the contents of the official Hammer Script Archive housed at De
Montfort University.
Applicants are reminded that there are only twelve spaces available. The
event is free to attend.
The deadline for abstracts is 23.59 (GMT) Sunday 28 March 2021. To
submit an abstract, please complete the form at the following link:
