[Commlist] ”OnAdaptation” - EACWP & SRN European Conference

Lucian Georgescu is excited to share the call for papers for ADAPTATION, 
the first joint conference of the European Association of Creative 
Writing Programmes (EACWP) and the Screenwriting Research Network (SRN), 
to be held at UNATC, the National University of Theatre and Film in 
Bucharest, on 6–8 May 2027.

It is the EACWP VIII International Pedagogical Conference and the first 
SRN conference ever held in South-East Europe/the Balkans.

The conference takes adaptation in its widest sense, as craft, theory, 
pedagogy and industry, and reads it through three A’s: Adaptation, AI 
and Apocalypse. We welcome individual papers, panels and workshops on, 
among other things, literary and cross-media adaptation; screenwriting 
as an adaptive medium; the teaching of adaptation and of writing; 
generative AI as an adaptation engine and its consequences for 
authorship, assessment and labour; crisis, endings and apocalyptic form 
in contemporary European writing; and the institutions and regions that 
commission, fund and circulate adapted stories.

Proposals (250–300-word abstract, 3–5 keywords, 100-word bio) are 
welcome in English, French, Spanish, German or Romanian, from academics, 
teachers, writers, practitioners and doctoral researchers. Membership of 
either network is not required.

Deadline for abstracts: 1 December 2026. Notification of acceptance: 
January 2027.
